Critics Consensus

Rocky Horror Picture Show brings its quirky characters in tight, but it's the narrative thrust that really drives audiences insane and keeps 'em doing the time warp again.

Peter Bradshaw Guardian It is a genuine one-off, a movie whose own identity has now overshadowed its ostensible purpose: to spoof the classic movie chillers of yesteryear. Rated: 4/5 Aug 21, 2025 Full Review Andy Tweddle Little White Lies One hundred minutes of pure queer celebration that manages to concoct a bizarre cocktail of sincerity and reckless abandon. Rated: 5/5 Oct 31, 2012 Full Review Variety Staff Variety Most of the jokes that might have seemed jolly fun on stage now appear obvious and even flat. The sparkle's gone. Jan 11, 2008 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins A ludicrously singular drugs-sex-and-rock’n’roll fantasy-nightmare – which is intermittently hilarious. Rated: 7/10 Feb 6, 2025 Full Review Wesley Lovell Cinema Sight While it has its flaws, much of that is wonderfully lambasted by the audience participation, which has grown and adapted with each generation adding something and making this multi-generational experience one that you won’t soon forget. Trevor W It is a classic for a reason. It really looked great on the big screen. There were even some folks doing the participation stuff. The only way that it could have been better would have been if they had "prop bags" for sale. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/06/25 Full Review Donna Loved the old commercials and the movie. Thank you!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/05/25 Full Review CJ Wang Such a classic, and only properly experienced in a theater! Tim Curry's performance seems even better to me now than it did 40-some years ago. Never a dull moment! Bring your best sense of humor and imagination. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/05/25 Full Review Kim K I have been to more showings of the RHPS than I can count and was very excited for the 50th Anniversary release. The picture and sound were fantastic, and I was pleased that the song "Superheroes" was included in the release. I removed 1 1/2 stars for the venue - the AMC Cherry Hill 24. We were actually reprimanded by their staff for "talking and dancing during the movie". Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/05/25 Full Review Patrick The blue tint is back!
