Audience Member The usual ex-Confederate as a good-guy crap. Flynn was a plantation owner in the South. No mention of what he did to his slaves. I hate to see this revisionist meme, which was so prevelent in the old days. AND EVEN today, with "News of the World." Otherwise, Sheb Wooley and a young Slim Pickens were in it, so that was interesting. Kind of a John Ford, big landscape copy. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent western. Flynn is fatalistic, not his normal breezy self. Very good drama. Very under rated Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Director William Keighley keeps the pace up in this Errol Flynn Western based on fact. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member The politics of the film are pretty screwy in it's celebration of the Confederacy bravely killing indians. Errol Flynn plays a rebel leader who takes a troop out west in a last ditch effort to turn the tide in the waning days of the civil war. SPOILER ALERT! The rebs bravely die killing a bunch of native people, to which the union cavalry arriving later raise the rebel flag on a hill in honor of the brave defenders of slavery. Still, Flynn is quite good and more rugged than usual and a good supporting cast that includes Patrice Wymore and Slim Pickens, Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A standard run of the mill Western. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member 131214: A good story and interesting characters equals a decent movie. A classy black and white.
