Eager to leave his small town for the big city, ranch hand Randall Porter (Smith Ballew) is forced to hit up Edwina Blake (Ruth Robinson) -- a widow in debt to his former boss -- in order to receive a massive amount of back pay owed to him. But, when Porter reaches her estate, he discovers that the Blakes have serious troubles of their own. As Porter struggles to protect the Blake ranch from a vicious gang of rustlers, he falls for Edwina's beautiful daughter, Janet (Cecilia Parker).
