Audience Member Stunning movie and probably the best filmed version of Romeo and Juliet. Beautiful photographed in Italy with Oscar winning costumes and Cinematography, this movie has the benefit of a good cast and a beautiful score by Rota. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/24 Full Review MasterCrista WTF is this cringy ass movie? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/08/24 Full Review Jens B I had the biggest crush on Romeo when I saw this as a kid. That being said, Zeffirelli's adaptation is probably the best version of ROMEO AND JULIET ever put on screen. The costumes are fantastic, the music by Nino Rota is great, loved the mix of classic staging techniques and really dynamic and beautiful camera moves and angles. Romeo and Juliet have real chemistry, you feel how much they want each other. The whole film has an erotic atmosphere to it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/24/23 Full Review Rami A The best adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. This film succeeds in large part due to Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey. Derek Smith Slant Magazine As Romeo and Juliet, Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting exhibit an innocence, naïveté, and verve that enlivens their characters, making them feel startlingly modern even as they’re reciting Shakespearean verse.
