Audience Member Rad no-BS modern anti-war action thriller. Kind of like a gritty UK 'Triple Frontier'. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review laurie s Loach is a consummate director and everything he does has a special touch in the world of filmmaking. However, I know a lot about the Regiment and the inflamitory characteristics of Fergus does not ring true in the requirements of the 22nd Regiment. A loose cannon is the last thing they want. It's not clear if Nelson was ex SAS but in real life he wouldn't get through the selection process. It's an excellent movie and up to Loach's high standards and kept my attention all the way through. Well worth a watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent film - very thought provoking, but not always easy to watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review flixster f Known route, but didn't wear me off. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Full clichés and predictable characters Ken Loach is not cut out to make thrillers he should stick to what he is good at and that's social dramas about the working class. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member 4/10: A slighly below average anti-war film with its poor acting and uninteresting screenplay. Could have been alot better under different director. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Philip French Guardian A characteristic Loach film, a gripping conspiracy thriller not unlike Hidden Agenda, his film on the Troubles. Mar 22, 2011 Full Review Derek Malcolm London Evening Standard You don't expect Ken Loach to make thrillers, but this one is an angry and relevant film about the perfidies embedded in the Iraq conflict. Rated: 4/5 Mar 18, 2011 Full Review Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK) The film isn't a write-off, because Loach's simmering rage gives it a sporadic rawness and voltage. Sadly, it also clouds his vision. Rated: 2/5 Mar 18, 2011 Full Review Sarah Manvel Critic's Notebook No one in this film is stupid or in denial, but some are more open and honest than others. This clear-eyed forthrightness gives Route Irish a backbone many other films lack. Aug 9, 2018 Full Review Felipe Vicente EscribiendoCine The most striking, that he achieved with the experience, is that the filmmaker born in Nunenton, has the ability to do politics without talking about it explicitly in his films. [Full Review in Spanish] Rated: 7/10 Feb 8, 2018 Full Review Tom Clift Moviedex Although not especially revelatory, [...] Route Irish is still a success as an often troubling, occasionally thrilling and always tragic low-key drama.
