Leslie Felperin Guardian Although set in the nearish future in space, this multilingual sci-fi film feels quite of the moment, imbued with guilt and angst about environmental catastrophe, but also suffused with a sense of helplessness. Rated: 3/5 Jul 4, 2022 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com Rubikon never offers viewers deep answers to its bigger questions, but it does pose enough questions to keep things moving while you watch. Rated: 2.5/4 Jul 1, 2022 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times However thoughtful and well-intentioned, this debut feature is too airless and long-winded to excite. Jun 30, 2022 Full Review Keri O'Shea Warped Perspective It would definitely benefit from losing a good twenty minutes – it’s too loose in places – but there’s (just) enough spectacle and material here to hold interest, particularly for those who like an element of philosophy in their sci-fi. Rated: C- Mar 16, 2023 Full Review Alex Billington FirstShowing.net It's a huge relief that thankfully the film ends in the best way possible. They don't pull any cheap tricks or toss in some last minute gimmick, they don't go for the "safe" ending or peaceful resolution. They go as far as they can with this concept... Rated: 7.5/10 Dec 30, 2022 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix The sci-fi drama Rubikon is about people on a space station who are trying to stay alive after escaping from an apocalypse on Earth. Viewers will try to stay awake while watching this horribly acted and boring snoozefest. Jul 27, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Andrew G The writing and acting were better than expected, and there were plenty of surprises for me. I didn't mind the slower pace, and I disagree that these were shallow characters. This movie tried to tackle the biggest issues of our time. Yes, at times, it was a bit ham-fisted, but at other times, it bordered on elegance. I was surprised class-issues were raised related to soldiers. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/25/24 Full Review Jeffrey P Tries to be more than it is with a hazy plot and shallow characters, more detail and depth came from the prelude than the entire movie. After thirty minutes I sensed no hope and no way for it to be saved... with eighty minutes to go. It eventually does offer a glimmer of hope, and gains some direction, only to fail to do much with it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/26/24 Full Review Audience Member These Space Station movies are something else. This goes into a what would you do" scenario - and yet these are suppose to be brilliant minds who are capable of all the high PHD stuff and able to be sent up in a rocket and live off planet Earth - yet when something chaotic happens on Earth - it somehow brings out the worst in humanity for the characters to breach their moral and ethical boundaries. The movie starts off decently, has a few twists and shows only what would happen if they did do this one scenario. I think it would of been great to see an alternate ending, yet since it did not - we're left with a unsatisfied movie. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/27/24 Full Review Eric H Between the dry dialogue, actors whom talk like they have soap on their mouths and poor acting I feel this deserves negative stars. What a waste of time and money. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/26/24 Full Review Audience Member Rubikon is a snooze fest based on the illogical assertion that although we've achieved the technology to create artificial "gravity fields" in space, we still don't know how to recycle a byproduct. That we would let the atmosphere become lethally toxic (and brown, always brown) just to continue the evil corporate capitalism. Never mind that it is capitalism that has lifted billions of people out of poverty and garnered amazing scientific and technological achievements. This is a cringe inducing nihilistic bore of a cheap and unimpressive sci-fi pseudo flick with three flat characters that would invite zero sympathy. Avoid unless you have a fetish for self guilt and you're out of sleeping pills. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/07/24 Full Review WackityYak While Rubikon had the potential to be a great movie with its compelling premise, the story dragged on, lacking sufficient tension between crew members to keep it interesting.
