Safe House stars Washington and Reynolds are let down by a thin script and choppily edited action sequences.

Mark B It is very predictable but good action and Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington do a nice job. Car chase scenes are good and solid action . Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/04/24 Full Review Dirk D Great action! Feel like a Bourne spinoff! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/19/24 Full Review Cash S Safe House isn't nearly as good as it should be. You Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds in an action thriller together. This should be a pretty great movie. Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds do give great performances as always, and their performances are probably the best part of the film. The problem with the movie is that I just wasn't invested at all. I'm not sure if I could tell you a single character's name, or even explain half of what happened, even though I just watched this. This is also boring, and I wasn't a fan of how the action sequences were edited. The script just didn't have any substance, and made for a very forgettable film. The movie is still made watchable by the two leads, but this should still be so much better. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/24 Full Review Jelisije J One of those movies where the star power of the cast makes a mediocre C movie to an instant B movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/24 Full Review Neil K I was disappointed with the Denzel Washington movie, it didn't hold my interest. The film would have been better if they had killed the cast off at the beginning. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/10/24 Full Review ILeft I truely enjoyed it. Lots of chasing and suspense but I honestly couldn't tell you a single thing about what the movie was about or even who the good guys are. Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online Though it's not a premise we haven't seen played out before on the silver screen, Safe House is a movie that sucks you in, guts you, and spits you out at the end. Rated: B- Sep 8, 2017 Full Review Tambay Obenson Shadow and Act [Safe House] is utterly predictable stuff, in case you haven't already figured that out by now. Aug 14, 2017 Full Review Bruce Diones New Yorker The film's super-saturated look and quick cutting are mere substitutes for any real sense of intrigue. Feb 26, 2012 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Although occasionally exciting, there’s a pointed lack of gamesmanship in the events for a yarn involving spies, coupled with a lackluster quality that fails to leave an impression. Rated: 2.5/4 Feb 23, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies I had a great time with “Safe House”, and I don’t penalize it for aiming at a specific mark and hitting it. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 25, 2022 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Why do scripters even try to hide the identity of the villain until the end? Given the obviousness in these films, they might as well include a character named Professor Plum, usually found brandishing a lead pipe in the conservatory, and be done with it.
