Andy Webster New York Times For all its high emotion the film feels enervated, like an excuse to shoot attractive people in amorous rapture amid lavish but decaying real estate. Vetticad annavetticadgoes2themovies The strength of Saheb Biwi aur Gangster is its snug writing by Tigmanshu Dhulia (also the director) and Sanjay Chouhan. Audience Member You can clearly view the vision that Thigmanshu Dhulia wanted to put into this project. But it somewhat misses the bulls eye. The director tried to experiment with the screenplay , may be too much to the point that it became stale and too much predictable. But amid all the sabotage , the film still manages to keep audience engaged , actors like Mahie Gill and Jimmy Shergill fit very best tot heir roles as Biwi and Sahib. Whereas the Gangster played by Randeep Hooda could have been given to a better cast. Never the less a good story with a potential blockbuster may have been let down by its clumsy screenplay Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review flixster f Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster (2011): A mediocre time-pass gangster flick with a love story popped in. Performances are as good as the movie. If you're looking specifically for twists & turns, better skip this one. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns (2013): Again the movie started off well, but soon lost its momentum. Didn't expect so conventional an execution from Dhulia. Worst part was how it ended. Adding Irrfan and Soha to the star cast didn't work wonders either. The ending leaves a scope for third part, but I hope Dhulia won't go for it. As opposed to first part, expectations were a bit high here....... which only led to more disappointment. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Another promising film that falls prey to a weak ending. When will directors learn how to make films that are still compelling post-intermission? Still a commendable film in terms of sheer grit and for a thoughtful remake of a classic. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie and performances.... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Its a gripping tale which got all the jhatkas and matkhas. The story is set in a small town in U.P and the series of events that unfold the mystery is quite magical.......The movie is a full of suspenseful and intriguing scenes. The soundtrack is also fresh and performances are fantastic. Jimmy Shergill was just perfect as Saheb.Mahie Gill is just wonderful as Biwi and given a sterling performance.......And Randeep Hooda given a macho performance as Gangster.Direction is very good and I will say the movie is very different and offer a very very interesting movie watch..... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member A well made movie. All the actors starting from the lead to the supporting cast was perfectly fit in their roles.. Jimmy Shergills role was tailor made for him.. he acted brilliantly... Mahie gill was the best out of all the actors and hooda was effective.. the music complimented the movie Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
