Apr 22, 2024 Full Review Pradeep Menon Firstpost Even though Sairat was ostensibly a retelling of the poor boy-rich girl story, it was a perspective that we hadn’t seen before. With Sairat, we got to see for the first time what that world looks like from the viewpoint of the historically oppressed. Oct 17, 2023 Full Review Siddhant Adlakha The Juggernaut Manjule earns the film's three-hour runtime, exploring both the harsh stresses of romance on-the-run and the unrelenting specter of caste violence, which looms over even the most romantic of scenes. Dec 19, 2019 Full Review Anna M.M. Vetticad Firstpost In the matter of caste, Sairat is pathbreaking. May 8, 2019 Full Review J Hurtado ScreenAnarchy Sairat is astonishing filmmaking, from the joyous opening frames all the way through to the breathtaking conclusion. Nov 3, 2017 Full Review Nandini Ramnath Scroll.in Rajguru is especially stunning as Archana. Her command over her character never slips, and as the movie enters darker territory, her performance acquires deeper layers of empathy and meaning. Jul 1, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Imagine this... The Marathi Film Industry is over 100 years old. In 100 years of Marathi Cinema, Sairat is the first movie to ever cross a 100 crore mark. Yes, it is that good. The movie at once makes you believe like you're a part of it. The characters are so relatable. It seems so realistic that you even subconsciously start to accept that you'd have friends and acquaintances just like that. The characters are so believable and not at all forced as is so commonly seen in Bollywood Hindi movies. The musical scores are just breathtaking and the singer's voice is as if descended from heaven. The movie is also a stark critique of the Indian Caste System and deals with the idea of honor killing. The director Nagraj Manjule delivers a story that is steeped in harsh reality while at the same time preserving the magic of cinema. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member In 'Sairat', Nagraj Manjile has given us already one of the best Indian films of the year. Not only is the chemistry between Akash Thoda and Rinku Rajaguru refreshingly romantic and soul-suckingly beautiful, there escape and daring to imagine a world that doesn't hold on social barriers is frequently wild, just like the film's title. By the end, I was too shell shocked to stand up from the seat and just leave. True, this is looking so haunting on screen-thanks to Nagraj Manjule's immersive understanding of his direction. But this is the grim reality of India and it's caste system that's still-so-prevalent today. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie with a twisted ending. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Good Movie with native indian marathi touch Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member The Best Indian Movie of the Decade. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member The art of storytelling perfected with visual treat of the natural beauty of rural India, topped with an extra dose of realism. This movie is a perfect example that proves - it doesn't take big budget, visual effects, sophisticated CGIs and established actors to make an excellent movie. It narrates a love story that's caught in the unfortunate caste/class feud that still haunts India. The director has used this mundane plot which has been oversold in Indian films in almost all languages, and magically turned it into something unbelievably extraordinary. It's a long movie - about 3 hours, but there's not a single dull moment. The first half is filled with innocent humour the keeps the audience entertained and is followed by captivating stretches of reality. The excellent music and songs just adds value to an already exceptional movie. A must watch Indian classic! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
