Based on the true story of a 20-something writer from rural Maine. Inspired by actress SALLY KIRKLAND's performance in the sleeper hit, ANNA (Oscar nominee, Independent Spirit Award and 1988 Golden Globe winner), Zack takes the leap to pursue his ambitions of a Hollywood Career. After driving cross country, in a chance encounter he meets his lifelong idol the week he arrives. Sally hires him on the spot to be her assistant, where he quickly learns her career is a shambles. He dedicates himself to finding a way to land her back on the red carpet where she belongs.

How heartbreakingly ironic that just days before the release of Sallywood, Sally Kirkland passed away. Its a remarkably affecting film, mostly true, maybe, imbued with her personality. Rest in peace, Sally Kirkland.

A bit of a slow start but then I got really involved in this movie and their heartfelt characters. There were at least a handful of one liners that made me appreciate and chuckle while nodding my head slowly up and down as us older critics do… Sally wanted to teach us some truth through a medium that we understand - laughter and character. This movie moved me deeply as a wake up call to people who think because you win an award you will never have to worry about money. This industry is sometimes heartless and this movie shows us in a heartfelt way. Sally will be a treasure forever in my heart....

My favorite comedy film of the year. Full of heart and layers of meaning and emotion. Sally Kirkland is a big WOW - an incredible performance as herself. Tyler Steelman is perfect with her - you don't see screen relationships like this very often these days. The whole movie is so authentic and funny. I'll be telling my friends to watch this gem.
