Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Net net, Sam Bahadur pans out like a series of snapshots where information is handed out to us, much more tell than show. The writing is flat even when it tries to amp up the excitement. Rated: 2.5/5 Dec 4, 2023 Full Review Catherine Bray Guardian Whether he’s standing up to politicians, boxing a rival or charming his future wife, the guy can do no wrong, and the charming Vicky Kaushal is well-cast in the role. Rated: 3/5 Dec 4, 2023 Full Review Anupama Chopra Film Companion Moves from one incident to another without giving us enough context or the time to soak in the enormity and emotion of what just happened. Dec 1, 2023 Full Review Rohan Naahar The Indian Express It’s the least interesting way to make a biopic, and no amount of showboating by Kaushal is able to elevate the movie into something more engaging. Feb 3, 2024 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Sam Bahadur is nothing but a 'checklist' biopic that ultimately does a disservice to Sam Manekshaw. By making him look too good to be true, this erratically edited movie robs him of his humanity and depicts him as an unrealistically perfect hero. Dec 27, 2023 Full Review Ishita Sengupta OTTplay Sam Bahadur is a sprawling biopic on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw that traverses four decades of his life (from the 1930s to the ‘70s, when he retired from the services) but can be distilled to an uncritical portrait of his persona. Vivek Sam Bahadur is one of the best Indian movies I have watched in a really long time. Loved how Vicky Kaushal transformed into Sam Manekshaw by immidating his body posture and his style of speaking. I would watch this movie again and again in the years to come. Congratulations to the entire cast for their individual brilliant performances, most of all Vicky Kaushal for doing a fantastic job! So fresh in its treatment with flashbacks and still used from real historic events! We need more of these kinds of films. Everyone especially today's generation needs to watch it!
