Liam D It has a slow pace and non stakes drama but it has cool action to make it a decent watch Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/12/21 Full Review Audience Member When one thinks of the original Ong-Bak film, one remembers a nice fusion of solid action and moments of benign spiritualism, with a bunch of Bangkok moments in between, these moments being, depending on your mood, either engaging or 'the boring bits'. I use this comparison because Muay Thai Warrior is a 17th Century Thai action film that carries a lot of Ong-Bak's action and spiritualism, but largely attempts to make a movie of just those facets. There are a good number of scenes dedicated toward character building, but these are full of philosophical undertones that I would consider them falling into the 'spiritualism' category, just to a lesser degree. Now, does the movie work with just these? Mostly, but it does feel like there wasn't enough material to allow the full runtime. I liked the characters, the performers and the production design well enough, and what little story exists is actually quite nice. In regards to action, it's not on par with Tony Jaa, or even with something like 'Born To Fight', nor is there as much as you'd think considering the film's title is 'Muay Thai Warrior' - however, the action is certainly good enough. The main takeaway that I got from this movie was that it was a pleasant movie experience considering how brutal some Muay Thai movies get - I didn't feel the movie optimized its runtime very effectively, but I was satisfied when the end credits began to roll. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member The trailer is honestly the best thing about this movie. All the best muay thai scenes are in the trailer. The movie is laughably bad. 1 hr of pure bromance and training manual on buddhism and muay thai (basically seeing 1 guy continuously doing muay thai kata, fighting nobody). Then you get to the 1st real action scene and it was so poorly choreographed like a 10 man ninja turtle fighting barbarians. The movie could not make it its mind whether to be an action film or a historical drama and falls flat right in between. Literally got so bored I fast forward the last 30 mins. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member wow way better then I thought it was going to be...other title name for this movie "muay Thai warrior" Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member The fighting is pretty good, the (obvious) CGI not that much...the camera shots of the landscape were pretty.. This was released here in the USA as Muay Thai Warrior Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was one very good Ass Kicking Roller Coast ride of Martial Art. The music, Chorography, Historic Period, and Customs were all 100% Japanese and Thai. I especially enjoyed that awesome Japanese Jazz song with the very large drums that played near the beginning of the movie, but wait! The Thai fighters were exceptional athletes that could kick your butt from the most amazing positions. I gave this movie 5 starts because as a whole this movie gave this movie 5 starts for going beyond what it was advertised to deliver. "Some bad ass Martial Arts".
