BRizz 2 Quick Movie Review – Santa Jaws (2018) Just read the name Santa Jaws, and you already know it’s going to be bad. Nothing in the world could prepare you for how truly terrible it actually is. The story centers around a teenager named Cody (played by Reid Miller), and from the very beginning, it’s a mess. Cody keeps calling his grandfather “Papa” over and over again—way too much. It might’ve been fine if he were a small child, but he’s clearly a teenager, and it just sounds ridiculous. At first, I thought the plot might be kind of clever: a kid writes a comic book about a shark with a Santa hat on its fin… and then it magically comes to life. But unfortunately, it quickly devolves into nonsense. The CGI on the shark? Absolutely atrocious. I mean bottom-of-the-barrel, SyFy-channel-at-its-worst kind of bad. Reid Miller does improve a little as the film goes on, but honestly, this might be one of the worst projects he’s ever taken on. The rest of the cast doesn’t help either. The parents were forgettable at best, and the romantic subplot with the girl next door falls completely flat. The only actor who actually delivered anything remotely decent was Cody’s friend, played by Hawn Tran. In all fairness, this movie had potential to be a fun “so-bad-it’s-good” holiday creature feature—but it fails even at that. Everything just felt off, forced, and painfully awkward. Final Verdict: I absolutely cannot recommend this film. It’s a holiday horror comedy that ends up being neither scary nor funny. I mean its a Christmas themed man eating shark with a candy cane horn, ornament teeth, and lights wrapped around its body what more can you ask for? An absolute Christmas staple that I believe should be watched at least once in everyone's lifetime if only just to laugh at how goofy it is!
