It's a tight, fast-moving, entertaining cop drama that does away with the criminal mastermind clichs to show a more realistic portrait of a kidnapping and police investigation energized by car chases, flashing sirens, and strike force action.

It's been awhile since I've seen an Andy Lau film I enjoyed and I really enjoyed this one. The overall story and directing was interesting, the main bad guy was very entertaining to watch, some funny moments, the back and forth tricks and games the characters played were enjoyable, though the action and the emotional dramatic parts could have been executed better, which is why I gave a 3.5 instead of a 4 star rating.

kinda doesnt really pay off overall, always seeming like its leading into a twist or some big reveal but instead just keeps a normal pace of good guys figuring out bad guys moves. kinda weird considering the cast.

Decent thriller, though it really is most powerful in its quieter moments. The tone-deaf "fantasy sequences" feel more like concessions to producers insisting on more action sequences, and thus are jarring and unnecessary.
