ChrisCSH H While it's always a delight to see the great Christopher Lee as Dracula and he holds nothing back in this film with his portrayal of Dracula but even with his great portrayal, it's still not enough to bring the film back from the dead , the shaky plot and mediocre acting from the rest of the cast, gives the film a drawled out and just overall not very interesting story. There is definitely better films in the series of the hammer Dracula series of films. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/16/23 Full Review DanTheMan 2 Although originally tooled as a reboot, Scars of Dracula wastes no time setting events into motion, resurrecting the Count and letting him carry on as usual. It's easily the bloodiest of the series thus far with many gruesome sights to behold, but amps up the sleaze factor with plenty of busty wenches; hams up the acting and reduces any notion of terror down to shock value, arguably how most outside fans see Hammer as a studio. Seasoned director Roy Ward Baker is hampered by a lack of budget and Moray Grant's rather unambitious photography as all they manage to do here is keep things moving while the rest of the pieces fall into place, seemingly given very little to work with. To give Scars some credit, it does return the Count to the icily charming host he was when we first met him and, with the exception of the original, gives Lee the most to do. Lee relishes every second in the role and does a lot more to endear the film to me, unlike the previous adventure, oh and there's even Patrick Troughton as his servant Klove which is just the icing on the cake. Ultimately, Scars of Dracula is an empty experience and doesn't do anything that Dracula and Prince of Darkness didn't already do better but is one of great entertainment value thanks to its off-beat tone and unrestrained cast resulting in a messy delight. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/15/23 Full Review Liam D This is when the Hammer Dracula movies started their decline into mindless campy shlock but it's not awful and has a fun supporting role by Patrick Troughton (Treasure Island, Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger) Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/28/22 Full Review R P Bat's blood hits Dracula's (Christopher Lee) ashes, and he rises again to fight a couple (Dennis Waterman, Jenny Hanley) looking for trouble. (foreverfinalgirl.com/scars-of-dracula/) Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/07/21 Full Review Audience Member I know most critics say Hammer's Dracula films went downhill after "Dracula Has Risen from the Grave," but I have always considered their back-to-back 1970 productions of "Taste the Blood of Dracula" and "Scars of Dracula" to be my favorites. Yes, they're trashier in that they are more violent and have fleeting partial nudity... and, in the case of THIS film, a male protagonist who practices infidelity. Yet I think the fast-paced plotting, likable characters and amped up action help make these the most fun and exciting franchise entries for me. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Still an absolute masterpiece from the classic hammer horror Dracula film series. and one of Christopher Lee's best. along with Dracula has Risen from the Grave. Taste the Blood of Dracula & The Satanic Rites of Dracula. its fangulous. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

David Hogan hoganreviews.co.uk Christopher Lee is back on form when it comes to actually getting to act... a bit. Definitely one of the better offerings anyway, so long as you're in the right mood. Rated: 4/5 Oct 28, 2021 Full Review Craig Schroeder Battleship Pretension A messy delight...
