Spike G Good scooby doo film Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/02/23 Full Review Shaheed B When I saw the beginning of the movie I thought the villain had great promise, don't get me wrong, it's an awesome Villain, the only thing I didn't like was the execution, it was overshadowed by the music, the they should have had dramatic sound effects over it then that music they played then the villain scenes would have been more serious and it would have had impact on the story. The mystery gang wasn't as great as I would of expected in the first half but once they started traveling it felt more like a mystery solving movie but then towards the end it was completely lost when Shaggy was training to become Ultimate Shaggy, the whole entire walking in the air, riding a rock on lava, swimming underwater holding their breath for very long and riding a dragon?! Just didn't do it for me at all, it just didn't have that Mystery solving vibe to it. The ending was really exciting having a big samurai battle, even though it was exciting as it was but it would have been cool if it was in a Dragon Ball movie or an anime that matched the characters but not in this movie. This is a very exciting sword fight, ninja battling air walking, dragon flying movie but was a mystery solving Scooby movie? Did it give you that vibe, I found my self waiting the actual plot to pick up and once it did pic up the reveal came to quick then after that it wasn't a mystery solving movie, the animation looked like it was going to be nice when they entered Tokyo and then everything was melodramatic until they ending when they had the bug battle, then the animation went really awesome. I cannot believe I am saying this but the music was wrong, they had music that didn't match the fight scenes, when the the sword hits it when they stop in the middle of the sword fight the music should go with the what's happening in the scene but it doesn't at all, it's just continuous music that played over regardless what was happening in the scenes, so it actually didn't make anything better. I'm sorry but my low rating is for it's supernatural story and abilities that doesn't match the Scooby Doo aesthetic, it's music that was just copied on pasted under the scenes and the most important of all, the melodramatic face reveal. This is a very exciting movie, but if I want to watch Samurai fighting, I would something else that is properly executed, I'm doing my reviews based in other Scooby Doo movies and this doesn't compare to the others. It's good watch though very entertaining for the second half. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/31/22 Full Review Audience Member LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Trevor H While the sword fighting was well animated and enjoyable to watch, I do wished that the culture of Japan was portrayed in a positive light, instead of using stereotypes. The plot is a bit similar to Witch's Ghost. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/17/20 Full Review Audience Member The story was decent because while the middle of it was boring, they picked it up and made it good. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Offering decent action, good animation and a decent introduction to Japanese culture for kids, Scooby-Doo and the Samurai Sword might be blatantly rehashing elements from past films but they're executed in a decent-enough way to make this an enjoyable conclusion to the direct-to-DVD Scooby-Doo films from the "What's New, Scooby-Doo?" era.
