Audience Member This film is crazy! Chopped together from a previous film (Grudge Of The Sleepwalking Woman aka Mongnyeohan, 1983) this film is a mishmash lacking both cinematic artistry and narrative coherence. In an attempt to gain a western audience, a film about a snake woman going on a killing spree while being in an affair with a cop, is spliced with footage of Richard Harrison doing some action and going after a witch. The original film is already a mess of mixed pacing, motifs and feel so to throw in completely unrelated footage makes this "new" film somewhat of a brain twister. But, it squeaks into the realm of SOBIG with plenty of nudity, gore, terrible martial arts, snakes and a rubber suited snake monster. For 99% of movie going audiences, this is a pass. But for those who like something a little different. Something hard to find. Something completely absurd, Scorpion Thunderbolt is just what you're looking for. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Yet another Godfrey Ho travesty. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Another cut-and-paste 'masterclass' from Godfrey Ho and Joseph Lai - who may or may not be the same person - this time with even more incoherence and lunacy than the earlier 'Ninja Thunderbolt'. Richard Harrison again stars, and must be wondering what the hell he let himself in for in this stew of unreleasable Asian horror, atrocious soft-porn and rotten kung fu. The alleged plot involves Harrison hunting down a 'vampire witch who lives in a red castle and is... thoroughly evil' with his golden sword and mystical mirror. The witch has the ability to turn into a giant rubber snake, but only when a mysterious blind man plays his flute... ahhh, I give up. 'Scorpion Thunderbolt' is utterly bizarre and almost indescribable. Also, in the vein of many Godfrey Ho films, it has the most insanely inappropriate use of western film scores. Keen-eared viewers might hear selections from 'Superman' and 'Raiders of The Lost Ark' at the climax, and there is a dreadful striptease - for Harrison's benefit - to a looped sample of Jean-Michel Jarre's 'Oxygene'. Heh. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
