Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com Hama-Brown’s script is constantly bringing these complex emotional issues to the surface, smartly sketching people who feel so real that it’s easy to see ourselves in them. Rated: 3.5/4 Feb 23, 2024 Full Review Saffron Maeve Globe and Mail By deftly tugging at divorce narrative conventions and the slow erosion of a household, the film surveys the ways we curl inward in crisis. Feb 19, 2024 Full Review Marya E. Gates RogerEbert.com A raw and emotional drama about marriage, childhood, parenting, and this thorny thing we call family. Sep 19, 2023 Full Review Filipe Freitas Always Good Movies The doubts, confused feelings, and deep-seated disconnection that keep tormenting the lead character are valid, but Seagrass lacks groundbreaking originality. Rated: 2.5/5 May 6, 2024 Full Review Sumner Forbes Film Threat While it’s difficult not to wish that Gadon’s character had more to do, the memorable performances, unique atmosphere, and stunning 35mm cinematography all serve to solidify Hama-Brown as an exceptional talent. It is through sitting and sifting through the uncomfortable parts of life, and those uncomfortable feelings, that change and healing can take place. Apr 3, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Austin its too sad to talk about. Slower, not action packed. Couples problems Explained in a movie. it waz Blahn. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/01/24 Full Review Don L Seeing this film just a few days after seeing Simple Comme Sylvain / The Nature of Love was a study in contrasts. The Quebec film about a marriage in trouble has a script that crackles with life, a story that's told in brisk, engaging fashion, and characters that are both likeable and interesting. It's simultaneously passionate and highly intelligent. This English Canadian film about a marriage in trouble features a boring and utterly conventional script, a plodding pace, characters who aren't very interesting or very likeable, and a resolute earnestness throughout. The story isn't well tied-together, and the film's slow pace makes it about 30 minutes longer than it should be. The acting (especially by the child actors) is quite good throughout--that's one thing to be said in the film's favor. And for those of us who live in the area, it's fun trying to figure out what was shot where. (Is that the Surf Lodge? That must be the Skol Pub! etc. etc). Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/10/24 Full Review James G The trailer for this movie did it a disservice and I think a lot of people that wind up seeing it are going to dislike it for that reason. I was confused going in as to whether or not this was going to be a horror movie and it most certainly is not. I can appreciate that the sense of dread interspersed into the film is meant to be a metaphor for how people feel as they are dealing with grief and trauma, but this movie is very much a drama movie. The only real horror aspect of the movie is in its depiction of couples group therapy. Why would anyone do that to themselves!? With all that being said, I think it's a very successful drama movie. The acting in this movie was great and there is nothing in this film that I found to be an unbelievable representation of human emotion giving what all of the characters were going through. I appreciate that it conveyed their failed marriage as something that they both shared blame for rather than portraying one character as the villain and the other as the victim as these situations are often far more nuanced in real life. This movie was raw and emotional, but it most certainly was not scary, and if that's what you're looking for, you should look elsewhere. It was often uncomfortable, but kind of in the same way it would be if you were in the same room as a couple that was in the middle of a fight. You can feel the animosity that they harbor for one another, even as they try (not very hard, it would seem) to salvage their marriage. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/24 Full Review John B One of the best Ghost stories that I have seen! Very haunting film with a tense script. If you're interested in people dealing with grief, transition, reflection, regret and trying to find a path forward from the past then this film is for you. Very disturbing ending...so not for those who are dealing with depression. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
