Audience Member It is incredibly obvious right from the get go this is a very early talkie. I think this interferes with Ford’s mise en scene to the point where the film’s effectiveness is severely diminished. For a better Ford Navy picture see his shorts from the Battle of Midway and other WWII documentary footage and/or They Were Expendable. Story, execution, and performance are all lacking here. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty dull melodramatic war picture. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Överraskande bra tidig ljudfilm om ubåtsstrider under första världskriget. Miljöerna känns väldigt äkta (inte mycket kan vara gjort i ateljé). Rätt stolpigt skådespeleri, men det stör mindre än man skulle kunna tro.
