Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times The ensemble dramedy "See You in Valhalla" could be the death knell for dysfunctional family reunion movies. It's that bad. Apr 23, 2015 Full Review Michael O'Sullivan Washington Post As deadly as its funereal subject matter. Rated: 1.5/4 Apr 23, 2015 Full Review Roger Moore Tribune News Service Steve Howey, as a stoner-sage gay Hawaiian personal trainer, almost makes this worth watching all by himself. Rated: 2/4 Apr 22, 2015 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue The characters feel familiar and the scenarios are contrived in this low-budget drama. May 1, 2015 Full Review Patrick Cooper Orlando Weekly It's material we've seen before and the few oddball stamps feel painfully forced. It's not even good for a cry, dammit. At least these family dramas are usually good for a cry! Rated: 2/5 Apr 25, 2015 Full Review Mike McGranaghan Aisle Seat Contains an excess of self-impressed quirkiness that serves no real purpose and goes nowhere. Audience Member Not that good.. save your time by watching anything else by Sarah Hyland, honestly. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Can't really explain why, but I liked it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review troy k Turned it off after 10 minutes. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Frances H Not as bad as I expected from the reviews. It definitely was Steve Howey's movie--his character was wonderful. The ending was the best part. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/07/17 Full Review Audience Member Let me begin by saying, no, we didn't need another my-family-is-screwed-up movie. Some films in that genre aren't half bad, might even get a little tear at the conclusion. The only reason I teared up over this film was from the excessive pain of trying to watch it. It tries to be real, odd, quirky and cool, but accomplishes none of that. There's little development as to why everyone's pissed off and avoiding each other. It appears the writers felt that if they just showed how pissed everyone is that would be enough of a sell. No, it wasn't. And all the "odd" seems to be just thrown in without rhyme or reason: the brother who believes he's a viking, the weird health-nut boyfriend who channels the dead viking brother, and the fruits and nuts nurse taking care of the father appears too tacked on with little development, rhyme or reason. Trite, trivial, cliche as all get up. You've been here before, and I'm sure the movie you saw did it much better than this one ever could, even upon a couple dozen more tries / takes. Don't even bother wasting your time. Nothing here to see. Move along. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member The only good thing about this movie was Steve Howey.
