Seeing Allred was a film that I found incredibly meaningful because it highlighted the lifelong commitment to fighting for women's rights and justice of Gloria Allred. The film showcased how she continuously represents survivors of sexual violence, injustice, and discrimination, even when she is criticized or pushed into controversy in the media. Overall, the film inspired me by highlighting the power of persistence and the amount of courage it takes to advocate for others in the face of injustice. It's a compelling and thought provoking documentary that shows a lot of emotional depth into a celebrity who is made fun of because she is tough in the media. The interviews with clients,and Allred herself help paint a picture of someone who has a relentless sense of justice and wants her clients to be safe and supported. It was an intense film but I would highly recommend. She believes that remaining complicit is like a betrayal of the other people who have been through similar experiences, and her duty to speak for those people is very admirable. I like the way the filmmakers structured the documentary as if we were the ones slowly uncovering and discovering more about her cases in real time. Her tenacity and persistence are inspiring and disheartening as we watch the struggle to get justice often turn out to be fruitless. It provides a lot of interesting information on her upbringing, as well as why she has presented herself in the media in a very strong way. This documentary also comments on many relevant issues involving women today, and I feel it is very informative in discussing how people like Gloria Allred have chosen to fight back in a more public way. For every upsetting, horrific tale of assault told by both Gloria and her clients there is a powerful, hopeful, and motivating lesson that comes out of it.
