SEEKING ASYLUM is a feature documentary that bears witness to the endless deterrents migrants face when petitioning for asylum in the United States. In a dismantled system that has been designed for failure, we follow one woman's journey as she searches for protection for her and kids. Many people view getting to the United States as the final hurdle of the migration journey, but we quickly learn that once in the U.S. the fight has just begun. During one of the most uncertain times in our country's history, Seeking Asylum documents the challenges asylum seekers face and shows why asylum is an integral part of the American Dream that we cannot afford to lose.

Tobi A Incredible film. I found it very informative and also encouraged me to ask more questions and do some of my own research on the matter. As a work of art I appreciated the connection that was created with the family. It made the experience more personal for me. Great film, definitely watch it! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/10/23 Full Review Shari N This heartfelt documentary shows the journey of a hardworking family who are seeking asylum in the US due to dangers in their home country. This is a must-see for all and would be a helpful film for school-based discussions, as well. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/05/23 Full Review Jennifer W The topic of people seeking asylum at the U.S. southern border is so highly politicized that we almost never get to hear the stories of individual people. I appreciated how carefully and gently the filmmakers treated the mom and her kids who are the main subjects of the film. The emotions they captured, from the the fear to the joy, felt really authentic and I forgot I was watching a film about U.S. asylum policy. Instead, the film presented the story of a woman, wife, and mother using every last parcel of energy in her body to carry her family forward. Highly recommend! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/09/23 Full Review Melissa S Honeypot Productions did an incredible job humanizing the very real challenges faced by families when they flee violence and persecution and seek safety in the US. It was powerful to not only see Kensy and her children's experiences at the border, but in the days and months afterwards trying to get by in a new home, navigating a slow, confusing, and punitive asylum system. Witnessing the day-to-day challenges they faced in the pandemic and beyond - and their day-to-day joys and simple pleasures - made their story very relatable: Kensy's story could be my story, your story. Having given up everything to save her family, she deserves so much better that what she's been forced to navigate. Thank you, Rae and Kelly, for this powerful, intimate, timely film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/01/23 Full Review Rita S It was an excellent movie which shows the difficulties anyone has for seeking asylum. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/01/23 Full Review Kimberly F This is a very real look at what asylum seekers go through while trying to get to safety in the United States. Beautifully and respectfully made. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/28/23 Full Review Read all reviews
