Nick F An engaging above-average Western starring reliable Audie Murphy as an outlaw posing as a sheriff who starts to like his role as a lawman and faces a dilemma when his old outlaw pals come the town to rob the bank. Beautiful Gia Scala brings a classy presence to the role of a former saloon girl forced to become Murpy's respectable wife, and there is an early role for Walter Matthau as an eccentric and drunken judge. As with most Audie Murphy movies, the ending is predictable but a good script and taut directing keeps you involved. Nice and little more--Truly an uplifting story, with moral standing's ahead of its time... For a modestly budgeted, unambitious horse opera, this is as good as it gets!!
