It could have been done better. Great acting, and scenery, decent cinematography, storyline convoluted. I think a significantly less amount of rape, and cleaner editing would have helped. Great premise but it just missed the mark.

An interesting story based on a Swiss fable. Its not scary or that dark (until the third act) where all is revealed. Theres use of parallel timelines with the 2 sub-plots. The acting in it is really good as you truly feel emerged in Swiss folklore. The cinematography is also brilliant eschewing a total Swiss vibe. The best thing about this movie is plot... its very interesting from start to finish, with no dull lags in between.

The film is very intriguing and pulls the viewer in, only to leave them questioning the entire story. It combines the suspense and thrill of American Horror Story with the mystery and eeriness of The Returned. This can especially be seen in the beautiful scenery of the film and the way it is portrayed with music, lighting, camera angles, and motion.
By introducing the "sennentuntschi", who is never named, as an innocent, naive, and childish woman, her violence and murders appear to be only reactionary. Some murders strongly support this notion, others do not, and by the end the viewer is left to ponder the sennentuntschi's motives, or if she is a sennentuntschi at all.
The plot branches off with many potential endings, but the film ends with no definitive explanation. The viewer is left to decide what truly happened in the Grison Alps.

Sennentuntschi is a Swiss fairy tale of a woman that can be summoned to fulfill the needs of man. There is a catch though, the woman will kill and skin the men and make dolls out of them.
This tale is told through two generations. The myth brings the whole town to paranoia and violence centered around a police man sheltering a mysterious woman.
The lovely part of this story is the validity of the myth itself. The policeman has a logical explanation for everything and it certainly fits. But the supernatural element fits perfectly too. She COULD be the devil, or she could just be a woman who was lost and showed up at the cabin. While it is never outright explained there is some subtle inferences as to the true nature of the mute woman.
The acting was top notch, as well as the cinematography. The tension builds constantly leading to a violent and bloody conclusion.
Highly recommended!

Basically I dont watch Swiss Movies. Swiss are better in lot of things but they are really bad (bad is underestated) in making Movies, unless Germans and/or Austrians support them, and Sennentuntschi is one of them.
An example was the Movie named "ring thing" which was a disaster....anyhow back to Sennentuntschi, it was an okay for an "Horror"
Honestly I watched it because there was nothing better on TV and I had flue.

The Film is constantly misleading the viewer; it lets you believe, you know more than you actually do. The further you get towards the ending, the more you start to doubt everthing.
The performances are for the most part over the top, i.e., trashy. This of course fits the genre, but you have to be aware of that and accept it as is.
The filmography is one of the films positive sides. Lightning and colours are greatly dealt with, as well as pacing and angles.
It's not a must see, but i recomend it.
