William Thomas Empire Magazine Seve's own interviews give more insight into what made the genius tick, and the footage towards the end is hugely moving, but this is still a sadly missed opportunity. Rated: 2/5 Mar 22, 2016 Full Review Kate Muir Times (UK) Seve is for dedicated golf fans only, but there is some charm to this drama-documentary on the rise of Severiano Ballesteros from Spanish farmer's boy to world-class golfer. Rated: 3/5 Jul 7, 2014 Full Review Mark Kermode Observer (UK) Gripping sports reportage with chocolate-box dramatisations of his childhood years, making this very much a game of two halves. Rated: 3/5 Jun 29, 2014 Full Review Riath Al-Samarrai Daily Mail (UK) A fascinating new film... about the wonderful life and premature death three years ago of one of sport's most charismatic artists. Rated: 4/5 Mar 22, 2016 Full Review James Mottram Total Film However under par it gets, it's impossible not to shed a tear as the final chapter in Ballesteros' oft-magical life unfolds. Rated: 3/5 Jul 11, 2014 Full Review Mark Adams Screen International An uneasy rose-tinted blending of striking documentary footage and plodding soap-opera style re-enactment ... Serenity Seve isy all time favorite, loved the movie of his life What a amazing guy Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/03/23 Full Review isla s I found this an enjoyable watch. You get a real feel for Seve's passion and enthusiasm for golf. I liked that it features library footage from his successful championships and the like as well as scenes acted, depicting him as a young child trying to get into the sport. It also features interviews with him played like narration in the background, during dialogue free scenes. I thought they got the balance right in terms of showing reconstructions of his younger days alongside footage of his successes and ocassional footage of him on TV and the like. However, obviously due to him being brought up in Spain, there are a fair few scenes in Spanish dialogue, so if your not fluent in Spanish then there are subtitles to deal with but that didn't put me off personally. I also felt the use of music was quite good - its quite subtle and not over-powering. I felt the story was nice, its a positive and perhaps somewhat uplifting one. I would recommend this film to fans of sport/golf and people who enjoy biopics, even if it is a slightly slow watch. I'm not especially a fan of golf - I'm not really bothered about any sports but I thought this was an easy and enjoyable watch regardless because its about someone who puts work, efforts and his dreams are about bettering himself, his situation (living on a farm) and so on and I imagine many people can relate to that. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Amazing story of an incredible man, nicely told & emotional. Well worth a watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member It's ok, strange mishmash of recreating his childhood with actors and documentary of his playing career. Good to hear Peter Alliss narrating the documentary piece. Overall though it is a mawkish and sentimental puff piece, not wildly entertaining and the story is a simple one that could have been redacted to a ten minute piece on his childhood, his improvisation and his determination to become a golfer. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Great story about becoming a champion! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Seve was a magician with his golf clubs. The fact that he only hit a 3 iron for years and he could pull off any shot with it was incredible. I believe all young golfers should watch this movie as it is an inspiration and shows how a dream can come true with hard work. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews
