Audience Member Another good one right here that I will highly recommend James Welch, Henderson, Arkansas, June 2, 2023 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/01/23 Full Review Iz M This film is one of the greatest westerns.Period. It has back story, conflict, great performances, superb writing - the whole nine yards. Its a must see for anyone.100 percent rating.Watch it - you'll really enjoy it. A classic traditional western, done perfectly. It's much better than most of the simplistic stuff on Netflix. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/30/22 Full Review Audience Member Surprisingly good and unpredictable. All the lead characters have three dimensions, with Masters (Lee Marvin) being unusually complicated for a 1950's Hollywood outlaw. Sad about Gail Russell, though. The ravages of alcohol aged her prematurely. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review kevin w Life is all about definition, how you define yourself, how you define others, and how you define your circumstances. That seems to be the takeaway from this better than average oater wherein an ex-lawman (Randolph Scott) goes after the thieves who killed his wife during a holdup because, he explains, that's what men do. The discussion becomes decidedly pointed when he runs into a man as self-directed as he (Lee Marvin, happy to snarl). This philosophical conversation comes to a head, as it always does in Westerns, in a gunfight. Gail Russell plays the prize for the victor - straight. Look for the grabs-you-by-the-throat monologue where Marvin simultaneously belittles Russell's husband, seduces her, and threatens Randolph Scott's ex-sheriff. Impressive. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Spare, and relentless. Everything a vengeance story set in that world known as the mythical movie "West" should be. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member An excellent western. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Richard Brody New Yorker Offers a Hemingwayesque intensity of unspoken emotion and bitter wisdom, with a visually terse style to match. Aug 2, 2021 Full Review Fernando F. Croce Slant Magazine The effect is not one of (pre) post-modern nudging, but a questioning of the conventions through the director's humanizing gaze. Rated: 3.5/4 Dec 24, 2005 Full Review Michael Barrett PopMatters All his films are over before the 80-minute mark, sometimes before 75, and that’s something of a lost art... Sep 13, 2023 Full Review André Bazin Cahiers du Cinéma [Seven Men From Now] is perhaps the best Western I have seen since the war. It is only the memory of The Naked Spur and The Searchers that makes me reticent. Feb 1, 2021 Full Review Michael E. Grost Classic Film and Television Classic Western that is one of the high water marks of the American cinema. Aug 10, 2011 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Combustible Celluloid It deserves to be viewed, as one of the greatest Westerns -- possibly one of the greatest films -- ever made. Jan 21, 2006 Full Review Read all reviews
