      Critics Consensus

Straining under a thin plot stretched to its limit by a bloated running time, Sex and the City 2 adds an unfortunate coda to the long-running HBO series.

Robert V What a piece of....I hated every minute. Worst script ever written and so offensive in every way! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/29/24 Full Review Jo Y Its everything you expect from satc and more. The bad reviews are not fans of the show Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/30/23 Full Review kristina T What an idiotic film . So ignorant to the actual culture in the country, true American style . Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/28/23 Full Review StephenPaul C LOL, the funniest 02 hours: and 27 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/02/23 Full Review Red T It's Terrible. The major strike against it there really isn't a main plot point. It's made up of subplots. This results in terrible editing and pacing. This drags more and more than the first did despite being he same runtime. Big & Carrie are only in this together about 20% of the movie and they don't have the same chemistry as the first for some reason. Everything acting, music, and surprisingly cinematography wise is just ok. They waste a beautiful location on dumb pointless gags that never add up to anything. There really is no climax to this movie either. The subplots just kind of resolve and some forced in wild antics happen in the last 20 minutes because it wasn't exciting enough I guess so they had to add something in a reshoot. It feels so pointless all the last minute gags. Even if you like the show stay away from this. It's completely pointless and a terrible sequel and film. Julie and Brandy Autostraddle Get a woman to write and get a woman to direct it Aug 31, 2021 Full Review Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express The sequel, Sex and the City 2, wipes any urges towards mirth. You watch in mounting disbelief as the disgruntled girls ( not women, never) come on to whinge about every single thing that's in their lives. Rated: 1/5 Apr 12, 2019 Full Review Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online Though the sequel doesn't pack as much juice as the original movie, Sex And The City 2 doesn't leave your martini glass empty. Rated: B Sep 11, 2017 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review King allows these women no room for growth, even within a two-and-a-half-hour movie. They all end up just as they were, ever obsessed with surfaces and labels, which is disappointing. Rated: 1/4 Aug 18, 2023 Full Review Rachel Wagner Hallmarkies Podcast It's the only part of covering the show I dreaded for good reason. It's bad. Really bad Jan 9, 2023 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) Offers a never ending journey of two hours and a half on an uncomfortable camel.
