Bungling an intriguing main central premise and wasting several actors we’ve seen do much better work, Shadow of God should’ve been doused in holy water before its creative team felt compelled to get their hands on it.

Peterson nudges at some heavy concepts — religion, trauma, abuse, humanity — never quite delivering a full punch, but consistently finding interesting threads to pull within those conversations, benefitting greatly from compelling performances.

sign of a good movie: if it had more money, it would be better. “Shadow of God” has a solid, well thought out story that could have benefitted from having a bigger budget. It was a brilliant move to mix the quotidian nightmare of Waco with cosmic horror.

Calgary-made, locally cast, and bold enough to drop an exorcism film on Easter Monday. This one mixed religious horror with cult mythology and unexpected VFX (for better or worse). Strong opening with chilling visuals and lore Highlights: the caffeine-gel cross transition, the double-nailing exorcism ritual Lowlights: end-of-days green screen energy that pulled us all the way out

"Shadow of God" an exorcism film that tried to be different with unique ideas & avoided many of the tropes in a subgenre of horror that has grown tiresome. Yet the tone is at odds with itself, the bloody & psychedelic visuals didn't necessarily work & sequences came off as cartoony, largely down to the performances. While it can be seen as passable criticism, the Raiders of the Lost Ark final act didn't help despite the good payoff which was setup during the opening. Mark O'Brien is always a reliable actor & playing the priest, he's like a beat cop who's seen it all before retirement in two weeks.

I turned this off half way through. It just got worse each scene. The actor that plays Angus was unbearable to watch. I might have sat through it otherwise. Terrible dialogue. Bad CGI.

Thankfully doesn’t back out of its promise. “omg hOW sTuPIT gOD iS aLL pOwERFuL wORsT mOVEE eVERrrr!” Lmfao, oh, stfu… It’s fiction. Just like scripture. Get over it. These clowns *love* the corniest and worst “exorcism” scripts (of which, Hollywood cannot stop cranking out every month) and the moment one with a good premise is released, they start crying and whining about how, in THEIR story, a character is “much more powerful” than in the movie… They’re Superman fans. Whining about comic book hero.
