Audience Member A genuinely intriguing plot. Reminded me slightly of Cube, though nowhere near the quality. The low budget is a bit glaringly obvious. Low budget movies can still be of a decent quality if the budget is used effectively, but I don't think it was in this one. It had some very average acting, sometimes they hit their mark, at others it didn't seem they were quite certain what they were supposed to be doing or responding to. Overall, not too bad a way to spend 90 minutes, but it just felt like there was so much unused potential. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member The main idea does NOT work. And that's just one of the problems of this film. Yousee, films like these stand and fall with their idea, the twist ending, the surprise explanation. But this one makes little sense and leaves too many questions unanswered. It's not even possible to tell whether the story is taking place in the present or in the future. Other major problems include the acting (which is practicall non-existent), the unnatural dialogues (they feel artificial) and the length of the film (although it claims to be almost 90 minutes long, its actual length is only 70 minutes; the rest - almost 20 minutes - are end credits). Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate a good low-budget independent film, but 'Shadowplay' is not one of them. Avoid. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member I shamelessly recommend this movie if you can find it.
