Luis I This is my first approach into Kung Fu cinema, and I have to say I found it fascinating. As a genre film from a different country, it operates outside the classic Hollywood conventions, with a distinct tone, pacing, and style of writing that might feel unfamiliar, or even alienating, to those not used to these types of films. That said, the movie is very entertaining. The fight scenes are expertly choreographed, with the actors showcasing impressive Kung Fu skills. The storyline is straightforward and easy to follow, though it isn’t particularly complex or original. At times, the plot moves so quickly from one event to the next that some moments don’t carry the emotional weight they should. The biggest issue is undoubtedly the rushed ending, which awkwardly tries to tie everything together in just a few seconds. Additionally, aspects such as the sound design, acting, and visual effects might not sit well with every viewer. However, if you approach the film with an understanding of its genre conventions and cultural context, there’s plenty to appreciate and enjoy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/29/24 Full Review Audience Member A good old-school martial arts film which doesn't tread the tired and well-worn paths so many of these films did. Outstanding martial arts segments as well. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member a plot riddled with problems and inconsistent kung fu action makes this an entertaining but fairly average film. the contention between schools with differing styles made for some interesting scenes, but overall not one of the better kung fu films. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member shaolin shadowboxing... and the wu-tang sword style. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member All movies should end with two people jumping into the air. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member One of my 2 favorite martial arts movies of all time (the other one being Jet Li's Fist of Legend) starring real life bad boy Adam Cheng as the Wu-Tang student and the legendary Gordon Liu (who also debuts his skills as a director with this film) as the Shaolin student who was tricked by the evil Manchu Prince and resulting with him (Gordon Liu) representing his school of Shaolin into fighting his best friend (Cheng) from the rival school, the Wu-Tang Academy, to a deadly duel so that the Manchu Prince can see them display their secret techniques and learn them for his own purposes. Good storyline, drama and classic old school Kung-Fu choreography that is simply jawdropping ! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
