Audience Member Very interesting documentary following "onnabe" (transgender boys) who work at a club in Shinjuku. It goes into their relationships outside work and the relationships with women who visit the club and pay to be with them. Though the dvd copy I have looks straight from video and extremely dated for the 90's, I still really enjoyed it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review antti p The Shinjuku boys are 3 onnabe (women decided to live as men) hosts at a club in Shinjuku, whose customers are women who think of them as "ideal boyfriends". The documentary interviews the men about their job and daily life, taking a peek into the intimacy issues too. One of the best scenes is when one of them phones his mom after not talking with her in 5 years, telling her about his girlfriend, a MtF trans woman, and the mom asks "is she going to be like that forever".
