Heavy on censure and woefully light on scares. Go to Full Review

"Shook" is done in by its final reveal, which manages to be simultaneously improbable and conventional. For engagement, we'll have to look somewhere else. Go to Full Review

It's all very 2021, and you can't help wondering how it will age, but as a launching pad for the director and her cast, it's a very serviceable platform. Go to Full Review

Harrington's solid direction can't salvage the tin-eared screenplay or shoddy performances, or prevent the plot's degeneration into a convoluted mess. Go to Full Review

Shook really slays when it lets it be about Mia, a woman on the internet, having that same internet weaponized against her, while also using it to fight back. But when the wires get crossed, it ends up a messy story with too many threads. Go to Full Review

Bisquiteen T 3d I'll admit I was surprised somewhat. I thought the lead was a wretched actress, and you could say that it was due to her "influencer" schtick, but that wouldn't be accurate. It did go past that point -- she was wooden even when the "thriller" elements kicked in -- but when the stakes got high enough at about the two-thirds mark, her performance ramped up to the deserved level, so I can't be too mad about it. I thought about turning it off because of her acting, but I'm somewhat glad I stuck around because she eventually rose to the challenge. I just wished the director had pushed her a bit more before it got to the "everyone's dying, now you gotta act!" parts. I guess I'm trying to say it's not wholly terrible, but it's really carried by one actress, so her relatively poor performance for the first half hour or so will likely turn off many viewers. She is, however, incorrigibly stupid throughout the entire film, and the ending is even stupider than she, so...maybe trust your instincts. See more Shannon F @Shannond Jul 13 Horrible movie. Actually quite ridiculous. Predictable and over the top, non believable. See more London H @Artworks 10/01/2023 Movie is good and intriguing, but I wish they worked more on the ending because it's just open ended and up to interpretation. See more Spitfyre 8 08/13/2023 I think this is getting a bit of a bad shake all around as it was certainly decent enough and was worth the 90 minutes. I don't think it was as scary as it probably wanted to be, but there are more than enough suspenseful moments within, and the acting was definitely serviceable. I wouldn't go out of your way to see it, but it's a solid time-waster. See more Courtney K @c0urtn3y 05/26/2022 i mean, she's got shitty friends & family, but i couldn't get over how dumb she was. she left the house multiple times - why did she go back inside? who doesn't know the tune you do CPR to? & who doesn't know the temp of a fever? the trivial questions made sense at the end, but what a dumb "game" it turned out to be. i wished the friendly neighbor visit at the end had been a plot twist, but the end turned out to be quite underwhelming. & she did awfully well for having a freshly broken leg. idk. it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.
