While the film sometimes plays like an hour TV medical drama padded to reach feature length, Sawant achieves touching, naturalistic performances from a fine ensemble cast. Go to Full Review

Mr. Sawant does his best to balance hopeful sentiment with the depressing prospect of a child's world going dark, and he tries to infuse this simple melodrama with a sense of tenderness and beauty. Go to Full Review

David K 04/20/2023 Pulls its punches only when it comes to glossing over the fact the crime that is the basis for the film was perpetrated because the accused was Jewish. It's a hard-hitting film in the Warners' tradition. Because of the characterizations of Southerners, it wasn't shown in Southern theaters. Worth a watch because of its place in Warners' 100 year history. See more 07/22/2018 It's one of the good movie which include very natural and raw acting talent. See more 11/29/2014 Dull and over-acted. See more 06/29/2014 a fine example of contemporary Indian cinema. this movie has absolutely touched my heart See more 01/28/2012 Don't know how could Top-Critics over here rate it so low! In my opinion, it should be listed among the must-watched Indian movies. It was so engrossing that I forgot I was 'just watching' it ! See more 12/20/2011 Its surprising that a movie like this has only 40% fresh on rotten tomatoes. The heart of the film is directed towards the relationship between Parashuram and his grandfather and this story by no means exploits the lower class as mentioned by a certain Ben Kenigsberg, but show's how life has to go on even after the toughest of obstacles[Blindness in Parshu's case].10/10,a must see, especially if you are tired of watching the usual Bollywood drama.
