Serge L A strange story that exposes the many issues in India, when you are in the lower class. Following the father, we travel and see India from a commoner viewpoint. Difficult but lots of good hearts. In the end, we wonder if the son is really lost or if we saw him preferring his new life. The grandfather seems know something. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/22/18 Full Review Claude H We watched this tonight and it was an interesting story from another world we don't know; tremendously sad. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/14/16 Full Review Audience Member A deeply moving film set in Delhi and Mumbai about a father's futile search for his missing son. The harsh realities of life in India and the hopelessness of his situation are tempered by acts of common decency, support and encouragement, which enliven a sense of hope till the very end. Rajesh Tailang and Tannishtha Chatterjee have acted brilliantly. Also, great direction by Richie Mehta. This film is currently available for streaming on Netflix in the US. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Reveals the terrifying reality of life. Excellent production. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member IT matters that the father tried his best... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A beautifully realized film about despiration, family and a parents love for their children. Director Richie Mehta's attention to detail and empathy for his characters, combined with some great performance elevate the film from a simple chamber piece into a deeper exploration of India culture that is never judgemental and is instead universal. Liam Lacey Globe and Mail Simple but engrossing, Canadian director Richie Mehta's Siddharth is the story of an Indian father searching for his missing son, and offers a window into the lives of India's working poor that goes beyond the familiar issues of food and shelter. Rated: 3/4 Feb 20, 2015 Full Review Linda Barnard Toronto Star Tension builds along with hopelessness but Mehta avoids making judgments or giving easy answers about the circumstances that led to Siddharth being sent off to work. Rated: 3.5/4 Feb 19, 2015 Full Review Radheyan Simonpillai NOW Toronto Mehta keeps his sociopolitical critique in the background, allowing it to inform but not interfere with his intimate and devastating story. Rated: 4/5 Feb 18, 2015 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Some first rate performances tend to override the film's smaller faults to concoct a gravely serious and affecting film. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 30, 2019 Full Review Christopher Lloyd NUVO Newsweekly Joyous, heartrending and illuminating, Siddharth is a film that's more about how the daunting journey changes a family than where it takes them. Aug 16, 2017 Full Review Alex Heeney Seventh Row When everyone's desperate and looking out for themselves, it's easy to slip through the cracks as Siddharth does.
