Critics Consensus

Though its bleak themes may be off-putting for some, Simon Killer is an engrossing, effective character study of a brutal, enigmatic figure.

"Simon Killer" is a beautifully made look at ugliness and brutality, the kind of oxymoronic exercise that fascinates some and repels others. Go to Full Review

Another terrific performance from Brady Corbet, but it's in the service of a parade of horrors that never leads anywhere interesting. Go to Full Review

The lead performances accurately sells the idea of a tourist who gets in over his head, though the ultimate destination of the journey doesn't make good on the tension experienced in the buildup. Go to Full Review

Simon Killer is a psychiatrist's playground -- moral ambivalence, violence, pathological liar, violent sex, and at the same time, seeming like a lost little boy pulling every stunt in the book to get attention. Simon is manipulative evil. Go to Full Review

Jeffrey P 03/24/2024 Tries but it never really gets there. Stupid ending. See more 09/20/2020 Simon, what a wretched POS. You’ll hope he gets hit by a train. He doesn’t. The persistent camera slow pans are tedious at best. Blah. See more 08/22/2020 As an average movie goer who just wants to be entertained, this was a flop. I get that the acting and filming were good but the story is not good enough to base a movie on. A post college lost soul who takes advantage of anyone he can regardless of how it affects them, and then has no clue why they are pissed at him or want to kick his ass. Who cares? Fortunately I was doing something else while this was playing or I would have turned it off after 30 min. See more 08/18/2020 Good character study, even though you hate the character. See more 02/25/2017 It was intriguing for about 30 minutes, but as time slowly passed my FF trigger finger got very itchy. I refrained, hoping that it would ultimately be worth it. Alas, it wasn't.
