Ellen Futterman St. Louis Post-Dispatch The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a true charmer, a coming-of-age dramedy that treats adolescent girls with respect as it capitalizes on the power of friendship, individualism and life's possibilities. Rated: 3.5/4 Mar 14, 2023 Full Review Philippa Hawker Sydney Morning Herald There are some heavy-handed moments of affirmation in the film, but there is a likeable warmth to it, some strong performances and some grit and spark, particularly in the strand involving Ferrara. Mar 14, 2023 Full Review Ian Johns The Times (UK) It’s all mostly warm and fuzzy until the film descends into multiple, tearjerking moments and trite resolutions. The performances are fine but after Mean Girls you may find this too sticky and sweet. Mar 13, 2023 Full Review Elizabeth Barr Buffalo News The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants thinks before it speaks and therefore is endearing and entertaining in a way that's empathetic without being sentimental. Rated: 3/4 Mar 14, 2023 Full Review Alison Gillmor Winnipeg Free Press The film achieves maximum amounts of emotional wallop without too much obvious sentimentality. Rated: 3/5 Mar 14, 2023 Full Review Eleanor O'Sullivan Asbury Park Press (NJ) The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is much better than that other movie about sisterhood (with Sandra Bullock), but less zingy than the exhaling women's movie or the Southern steel magnolias' comedy. Patricia P book much better..typical teenage problems movie..predictable boring Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/04/25 Full Review Audience Member 20 years old and director Ken Kwapis manages to successfully adapt the best-selling book by Ann Brasheres with much respect. | was afraid I was gonna hate it but it ended up being a very charming story about how a pair of pants can bring 4 friends together no matter what changes happen. Bridget is in Mexico on a soccer team seemingly falling for her coach. Tibby is at home working a dead end job while also filming her new documentary with a pesky neighbor. Carmen is off to see her dad finding out he’s set up a new life for himself. Lena is in Greece visiting her relatives falling in love with a local who’s actually forbidden to see her. Each of them experience new beginnings, unexpected developments, heartbreak, and new realizations. Of course they also have to deal with the difficulties of growing into adulthood next to love, loss, and learning to let go. The journey to maturity can be challenging but you’ll always have friends to count on. We can all learn to love ourselves, love our sisters, learn from our mistakes, be brave. Their problems are handled in very mature, realistic ways without being overly sentimental. The Greek landscapes are gorgeous. Definitely hits you hard emotionally towards the end. Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera, Blake Lively, and Amber Tamblyn are all perfectly cast too. Friendship, individualism, and life’s possibilities are what this movie capitalizes on in excellent degrees. It’s a great viewing for young girls depicting the women as excited, confused, impetuous, and determined but for other family members as well to soak up the wonderful themes mainly the universal struggles of adolescence and friendship being bigger than any of our differences. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/02/25 Full Review Co D not AS GOOD as the 4 books but still! i cry everytime at the end ❤️ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/17/25 Full Review d m #Recommended 8/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/12/24 Full Review Nim T I watched the second one before having a chance to watch this one. At first, after watching the second one, I didn't have a good understanding of how the "sisters" are very close together. With this one, I really like the concept of implementing the usage of traveling pants to bring familial ties and the openness of sharing one's concerns. Each of the four leading female characters had unique stories, yet brought a subtle bond that made the movie good to watch. Jenna Boyd also was a spotlight while watching the film. Now with the second film, the stories tie up together and bring a lot of good impressions. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/14/24 Full Review Mark C Well acted from the young cast but the film never gets going. 2 hours is too much for this Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/29/24 Full Review Read all reviews
