Justine Smith Vague Visages The viscous atmosphere of Juan López Moctezuma’s Alucarda exists somewhere between high camp and hysterical horror. g j A truly terrible film with impressively bad acting. Mercifully its only 75 minutes long. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/16/23 Full Review jonathan m Bizarre Visual master piece that feels like a filmed staged play at parts. There is plenty of iambic pentameter in this movie. I'm not fond of how the nuns dress then again I don't really have a degree how Mexican nuns dressed. But visually not impressive in their outfits. The generic nuns outfit would have worked wonders. The acting is ok and I definitely would check out some of the actresses again if they have done something else that is it seems to be a very arthouse film. Can be a bit slow at times but nun the less entertaining. The movie has quite a few different names, and strangely enough it wasn't on a video nasty list but I doubt many people went out to see it or get a copy Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Funky and atmospheric Mexican (filmed in English) vampire/satanic film. Strong anti-catholic sentiments. Good stuff. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Surreal and hypnotic, at first you might be lulled into its medieval setting only to realize it's actually set in the early 1900's. Don't go looking or meaning, just let the images wash over you! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member I know I may get smirks but - I consider this a lost horror gem. Compelling, artful, creepy and more nudity mixed with screaming for 6 movies. Def worth a look. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Catching up on some classic nunsploitation, and boy was it worth it. Recommended.
