Audience Member I loved this movie. I am a ice hockey player and enjoy most movies with hockey, but this one stands out to me. The premise of skating across the lake to escape the problems of their hometown is a fresh idea and an interesting one to explore. I think this is based off a book, but I'm not sure. I haven't read the book. There are some things that could be improved upon, but overall I think this is a great movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Quite Farcical. No Real Rhythm To The Story, Which Is a Book-Ended By Two Hockey Games With A Coming Of Age Flavour. All Evidently Lost Because The Trial These Boys Taken On Is Near Laughable.. For The a Record, The a Breadth Of Lake Ontario Is 60-miles or 85-kilometres...To Skate Across a This, At The Height Of Winter?? With No Supplies Or Support Team...While Not Impossible..It Lacks Major Credibility & Thus, This Film Sucks. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I really wanted to like this film, and although there are some redeeming moments...the film suffers from one too many cliches and a very shallow plot with limited character development. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Skating to New York does provide a little small-town Canadian flavor - minor ice hockey, ice fishing, and five-pin bowling all make appearances - but the movie really comes alive only in those moments when we see the boys skating across the miles of frozen lake... in wide shot they appear as minuscule specks on an endless expanse of white......a good movie... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Journey of lifetime, just think you can and nobody can stop you Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member A great premise that sadly missed the mark. Has a thin plot and production values ala 1970s after school special Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
