Famed aesthetician Hope Goldman (Elizabeth Banks) is about to take her career to the next level by launching her very own skincare line, but her personal and work lives are challenged when rival facialist Angel Vergara (Luis Gerardo Méndez) opens a new skincare boutique directly across from her store. She starts to suspect that someone is trying to sabotage her reputation and business, and together with her friend Jordan (Lewis Pullman) she embarks on a mission to unravel the mystery of who is trying to destroy her life.

Beauty can be an ugly business so it’s too bad this tense, fitfully funny satire about vanity scammers only goes skin deep. But it’s all flowers for Elizabeth Banks who is sheer bonkers perfection as a cosmetics control freak losing control.

Don’t worry if you have no interest in makeup or skin treatments or even either of those things as a metaphor; neither does “Skincare,” an extremely average thriller in which nothing is complicated and nothing much is concealed.

Skincare is a hidden gem! The multiple themes shown in this film including jealousy, paranoia, and feminine rage, career driven, gender equality, and equal protection dominance. I enjoyed the vibrant tone and colors within the cinematography and script. - Clearly Entertainment

Synopsis
