Rene Rodriguez Miami Herald Skirt Day, which has the feel of a mediocre stage play transplanted to the screen, grows duller and more preposterous as it unfolds, with Adjani's illogical antics becoming shriller and less sympathetic as the standoff stretches on. Rated: 1.5/4 Oct 22, 2010 Full Review Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times Just what is writer-director Jean-Paul Lilienfeld's endgame? Rated: 2/5 Sep 17, 2010 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) A film so enigmatic that it gives itself the perverse luxury of starting with the finally. Rated: 3/5 Dec 13, 2010 Full Review Anton Bitel Eye for Film a stark political satire, exposing all the divisions and frictions - social, sexual, racial, cultural and religious - of a modern multi-cultural France whose fragile sense of identity remains locked in a state of turbulent adolescence. Audience Member Has the luxury of examination and consideration of many characters precicsely because it is so unrealistic; every individual making a bad to terrible choice removes any sympathy for any character Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Serge L Comedy turning into drama. The teacher confiscate a gun of a student and uses it to get them under control, until things go out of control. Not as bad as USA shootings though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/16/18 Full Review Audience Member This must-see film takes place in one of the Paris banlieux (impoverished, rough, immigrant neighborhoods). Isabelle Adjani plays a teacher in a high school for immigrant kids. Suspenseful hold-your-breath drama that sheds light on the plight of Muslim immigrants in Europe, and the near-impossible task of teaching enlightenment values in a context of poverty and extreme cultural difference. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Adjiani does the best she can with the flawed material. But the character is too illogical for the movie to be any good. Everything that happens is just so damn implausible. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member What a stunner! Adjani's amazing performance and the dissecting of the multi-layered friends and foes relationships between the headteacher - teacher - pupil - parents' mini-society make this drama unique and unforgettable. The drama unfolds at breakneck speed in just under one and a half hours. I felt it could have been a bit longer with more elongated suspenses and non-dits, Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
