      Critics Consensus

Merging anarchic spirit with straightforward melodrama, SLC Punk is a hit-and-miss odyssey of youthful rebellion elevated by Matthew Lillard's dramatically potent star turn.

Cody S I love this movie, love the energy and the variety of stories along the way. There are some parts that get pretty weird, but overall just a wild ride that is worth revisiting on occasion. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/12/24 Full Review Unclericos T Good cast with some good acting. Great soundtrack. Bad dialogue and storyline that goes nowhere. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/06/23 Full Review Jonathan G Very close to a perfect movie. It's unfortunate that Matthew Lillard will be remembered as shaggy from scooby doo movies when this movie is his magnum opus and his performance is utterly spellbinding. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/29/23 Full Review Lucid C One of my top 10 favorites. A must see, especially if you went through a real punk rock phase. Anarchy in the UK Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/30/23 Full Review Htoo N Movie good. Characters good. Stevo Good. Characters funny. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/29/23 Full Review Mateusz C A look on young punks at the anarchy ideals crisis, slow paced, plot is built mostly as an envintorment introduction with main hero monologues and retrospections, but it works considering how its all balancess between sillyness, absurd, realizm to the point of deadly serious and mature. Also, it does highly stands on incredible original character creations and performances Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Anthony Lane New Yorker A messy but engaging look at the punk scene in Salt Lake City during the Reagan years; that may sound a little specialized, but how many of us knew there ever was a punk scene—or even a single punk—in the home of the Mormons?
