Virginia Graham The Spectator The implausibility of the story is successfully screened by the dialogue which is refreshingly natural, and there are many delightful touches which the producer, Mr. Buddy Rogers, exploits to advantage. Steve D Good idea but unfocused, Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/01/24 Full Review Elizabeth K Great cast! Don Ameche is a superbly evil ‘gas lighting' Claudette Colbert. Robert Cunningham, another wonderful golden age actor plays hero. The Daphne character is the perfect nasty foil to our innocent heroine (Colbert). Suspenseful with a terrific climactic ending scene. Enjoy! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/11/23 Full Review Audience Member when the prince dont wanna wake u up instead :D Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Douglas Sirk maintains a terrific suspenseful atmosphere throughout the entire film. The result is a riveting noir with a memorable screenplay and excellent performances from a great cast, most notably the very talented Claudette Colbert as Alison Courtland Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Well made wife-in-distress thriller, creatively directed by douglas sirk but feels like 'gaslight' but set in contemporary (well 1948 that is) times. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is a lot like films like Gaslight, which were better. There is a pretty good cast, and it starts out a pretty good mystery. Then it gets to be predictable, and it's not as good as it could be. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
