The script was tightly written, no loose ends. As I wasn't up to date with movies & celebrities, I didn't know the cast, I just went by that tiny sentence on the description and watched a downloaded copy on YouTube Premium. I will watch it again & again. I myself had stopped playing the piano since 1998, and, kept postponing playing again. I'll look for other J Pepe & Elaine Paltrow films on YouTube Premium. As sure as sunrise. I will. I'm 68 now but felt like 16 peeping into an old lady's and young musician's life collaboration. Is there a sequel , 'cause Adam set off on a dinghy with Elaine alone on a full sail . Dropped anchor? The tissue patted off tears. This movie is sooo good. Congratulations. If I ever meet the directors, Julia Butler and Daniel Mentz, I will have no choice but to punch them both square in their slack jaws, and hopefully avenge the evening they destroyed with their cloying wankathon of a "film". If I could say one thing to anyone reading this review who is considering watching Slipaway, it is all I can do to say SAVE YOURSELVES. WATCH ANYTHING ELSE. Please see this as a cautionary tale - do not make the same mistake I did. This was honestly such a sack of shit that it upsets me even knowing it exists. Heed this warning. Their relationship gels mostly in the inescapable confines of a love old sailboat named Slipaway. Of course the title comes from a deeper concept that you are shown in the developing scenes. Great story and acting with beautiful cinematography.
