      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

A slimy, B-movie homage oozing with affection for low-budget horror films, Slither is creepy and funny -- if you've got the stomach for it.

HauntedByHeroes Some of the best times my wife and i have had come from horror comedies. This is in our top 5 of the genre. So many quotable parts. Blood, guts, gore, aliens, alien worlds, mutants, gut busting comedy. It was so good we bought this for our physical collection. This is a movie you can watch once a year. Nathan Fillion and Michal Rooker absolutely nail their performances! It's every thing I love about the genre, with a salute and homage to the 80s classics. Always liked Nathan after he played the captain on Firefly. There was a really chemistry on this set and with the crew. If you watch the gag real and special features, you can see why this movie shines. The 80s and 90s had some of the most original scripts, with real heart and soul. This film is clever, it nods in tribute to the classics. The worst thing that can happen to a film, is critics who don't have the chops to write, produce, act, or direct just drop bad reviews on a fantastic film. Which is why this movie didn't blow up. There was a wave of zombie films and TV series at the time. This had nothing to do with zombies, trust me. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/27/24 Full Review will g Brilliant. If you like 50s monster movies! Very gory , but funny. 5 stars. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review Shane W The movie was really good loved the kills and the love through the characters will definitely watch again Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/24 Full Review Courtney K i know it's not a cinema masterpiece, but i can't help but like this movie; i watch it every once in a while when i'm feeling nostalgic. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/22/23 Full Review Johnny D This ridiculous horror flick is some good, solid afternoon fun! There were so many things this film could have got wrong but didn't. For example, they could have made the main villain (Michael Rooker) over-the-top evil, but instead they gave his character some real depth, with moments of genuine empathy. The other characters were pretty good too, and even though the plot is somewhat predictable, it was still pleasant and enjoyable. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/23 Full Review Andr F Im brazilian, filme muito bom, cumpre o esperado, nível de "gore" e um "slash" sem exageros, efeitos visuais muito imersivo, ou seja, realmente você acha que é possível existir algo assim, história e um ponto que achei que pudesse ser melhor mas está no nível dos anos 2000 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Allison Shoemaker Fox 10 Phoenix Slither is a visceral experience from the first, but as the creature grows, so does the film's daring. Aug 6, 2021 Full Review Jonathan Rosenbaum Chicago Reader Gross-out horror comedy is my least favorite genre, but this movie's so skillful I have to take my hat off to it. Oct 7, 2008 Full Review Brian Tallerico UGO Slither is over-the-top, gross, funny, bizarre and totally weird. In other words, it might be just what you're looking for this weekend. Mar 24, 2007 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review When so many horror directors end up ripping off the films they admire because they’re simply not creative, Gunn comes along and shows them all how to take inspiration, pay homage, and yet remain individual and entertaining. Rated: 3.5/4 Aug 30, 2023 Full Review Kristy Strouse Wonderfully Weird and Horrifying Slither is inherently weird, and if that's your sort of thing, and you want a film that doesn't take itself too seriously, this is one hell of a time. Oct 28, 2022 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Never lets up, throwing blood, slime, and one-liners (some woeful, most of them witty) at viewers with feverish abandon.
