Kris W Look, if you only judge horror by “prestige cinema standards,” you’re already in the wrong house. Slumber Party Massacre II is not your neat, tidy, A24-fed diet horror - it’s a late-80s fever dream with eyeliner, hairspray, and a drill-guitar so sexy it deserves its own museum wing. And I love it. I’ve loved it for decades. It's my sacred “drunk movie” - and yeah, it hits different once you’ve knocked back a few. This isn’t just a sequel, it’s a wild continuation of trauma from the first film. Courtney didn't “just move on.” Nah mate - this girl’s still broken from that slumber-party bloodbath, and whether Deborah Brock meant it or not, the real horror here isn’t the leather-clad dream demon with the killer riffs - it’s Courtney’s brain snapping like an over-toasted Shapes cracker. Personally, I don’t buy the supernatural angle. Forget Freddy-lite. To me, Courtney is either: 1. actually the killer, hallucinating the driller-rockabilly psycho as her mind completely fries from PTSD, or 2. never left the asylum in the first place, and the whole film is a padded-room rock opera in her head. Watch it with that mindset and suddenly the chaos makes perfect sense - the tone shifts, the musical insanity, the surreal gore… it's the mental breakdown of a final girl who never got to heal. And god bless the cast, because this movie is a low-key horror nerd’s treasure hunt. We’ve got: Crystal Bernard (Courtney) - before she went wholesome sitcom (Happy Days, Wings) and then full country-music angel. Heidi Kozak (Friday the 13th Part VII) as Sally - queen of the freak-out. Juliette Cummins (Friday the 13th Part V, Deadly Dreams) because why not have more slasher royalty? Joel Hoffman (Pumpkinhead) being peak 80s dude-energy. Jennifer Rhodes (Charmed’s future witchy legend) as the world's least-helpful adult. Kimberly McArthur, actual Playboy Playmate (Jan ’82), who managed to star in an 80s slasher without showing a single nipple - honestly, that’s more impressive than outrunning any killer. And of course - the Driller Killer 2.0: Rockabilly, greaser, pants so tight they’re practically a jump scare, and a guitar-drill I would proudly mount on my wall like a bogan Excalibur. Is it goofy? Yes. Is it chaotic? Absolutely. Does it make more psychological sense than it gets credit for? Bloody oath. Is it better when you watch it half-cut and start yelling “IT’S ALL IN HER HEAD” like a Melbourne Cup punter? Mate… that’s practically the intended experience. Slumber Party Massacre II is cult cinema comfort food - greasy, loud, a bit unhinged, and perfect at 1am with a six-pack or two, and zero shame. If you hated it sober, try again tipsy and look at it like a trauma spiral instead of a creature feature. Suddenly it’s brilliant. And for the record: If anyone ever manufactures that driller guitar - I’m hanging it above my bed like the Sistine Chapel. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/10/25 Full Review Jelisije J A sequel that didn't offer anything enjoyable or new from the original film and I got what I expected.......nothing to hate about this film, but its just another soulless horror straight to dvd movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/16/25 Full Review Lucio S This movie is awesome if not almost perfect. It’s a great sequel. Unlike the original, the villain this time has far more substance to him, and is badass. Atanas Illitch’s performance is a must see in this movie. The gore and especially the music give off Michael Jackson “Bad” aura. Overall, this movie is amazing, and I would HIGHLY recommend. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/04/25 Full Review Craig W. Slasher which isn’t great Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/15/25 Full Review David P. Possibly the dumbest movie I’ve ever seen. Not scary or funny. So what were you trying to do? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/09/25 Full Review Edward B Absolutely crazy sequel!! zany ideas that just doesn't work ...and comes off as a series of poor plot ideas a real mess Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/27/25 Full Review Read all reviews
