Jamie Healy Radio Times Charles Martin does keep things moving along, but his attempts to ignite proceedings with a touch of Guy Ritchie swagger are a bit hit and miss, while the story itself offers few surprises. Marco L (ENGLISH) Despite featuring Orlando Bloom as its lead, this action and espionage film turns out to be a forgettable and poorly executed product. The plot, centered on the transport of valuable art tangled with mafias and fights, adds nothing new to the genre and gets trapped in clichés and absurd situations that fail to connect with the audience. The performances, including Bloom's, lack depth, and the script offers no meaningful dialogues or situations to develop interesting characters. Additionally, the protagonist sports an unconvincing and poorly designed look that doesn't help his presence feel authentic within the story's context. In terms of action, the sequences fall far short of expectations for this kind of movie. The fights and chases are simplistic, with uninspired choreography and a lack of excitement. While some aerial views of Shanghai are appreciated, they are not enough to make up for the film's many shortcomings. The lack of clear direction and the sense that everything is made without passion or creativity make the film feel like a low-quality TV movie. Even for Orlando Bloom fans, this offering is hard to defend. Ultimately, The Shanghai Job is a bland and unremarkable thriller that fails to justify the time spent watching it. A cinematic experience that, at best, is easily forgettable. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/25/25 Full Review Audience Member I thought it was good overall for car chases and action, but we don't really get much of a back story on the characters to care about them. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review jelisije j Literally watched this movie to pass the time and I can honestly say I've seen worse. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Smart Chase is a pretty average action movie. There’s really nothing about this movie that’s a memorable average acting, average plot and some average action scenes. The movie gets a little slow in a few spots as well. It’s an OK filmI feel like heist films or a fan of Orlando bloom and it’s a watchable film there’s just not much here that you’ll remember. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/21 Full Review ithalo f Filme mais ou menos! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Orlando couldn't float the other poor talent in this weird Bonds-ish art caper.
