Janet Maslin New York Times Mr. Reynolds is gone, and whatever was enjoyable about the ''Smokey'' formula went with him. Jun 17, 2015 Full Review Variety Staff Variety The sense of fun in that original is missing and the countless smashups and near-misses are orchestrated randomly. Feb 23, 2012 Full Review Scott Bowles Austin Chronicle Lowry, Birnbaum, and Dasheu are really unfortunate they weren't making movies 45 years ago; they could have done real well for themselves making two-reel comedies for Joseph Goebbels. Rated: 0/5 Sep 3, 2011 Full Review People Staff People Magazine The road scenes are routine. Even the vehicles aren't appealing. In the name of decency, spare us another Smokey. Jul 15, 2019 Full Review Sky Staff Sky Cinema Gleason remains as funny as ever at the centre of this patchwork of arbitrary mayhem. Jun 17, 2015 Full Review TV Guide This film doesn't even have the basic narrative coherence of the first two, and it rambles about aimlessly with little humor or action. This is commercial filmmaking at its very worst. Jun 17, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

Blu B It's literally the the plot of the other 2 repeated and having no idea how to flesh things out or add a new twist. The end result is an absolute mess. The humor is just terrible. The music isn't good and is so focused on trying to make you remember the good times of the franchise with it's lyrics. Gleason is alright here and just doing his thing but everyone else my god is terrible. The wheels come flying off this pretty early on. where the second had a problem of too much humor this overcorrects and has way to much action in it. It feels so mindless and dumb but without any of the balance, charm, or energy of the first. It's just stupidity and bizarre stunts that make no sense. The story is just beyond stupid a setup to recreate the first and somehow forgets about the plot most of the time. Horrifcally bad editing, atrocious pacing and terrible everything else. Skip This. #DeathRattleofthefranchise Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/04/25 Full Review Gabriel M I'm giving Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 a 1-star review, and I haven't even bothered to watch the entire film. After researching the movie, I was shocked to learn about the uncensored nudity, innuendos etc, which I believe warrants an R rating. What's even more disappointing is that Burt Reynolds, the original Bandit, barely makes an appearance until the very end. I checked out the DVD from my local library, but I only watched the ending, and that was enough for me. The lack of Reynolds' involvement and the questionable content were major turn-offs. It's clear that Universal prioritized profits over the project's quality, which is a shame. They should be ashamed of how they handled the sequels, focusing on making a quick buck rather than creating a worthy follow-up to the original. I'm glad I can stop after the first movie, which I enjoyed, and avoid the rest of the series. I hope that Universal doesn't waste their time and resources on releasing the sequels or spin-offs on 4K Blu-ray, as they don't deserve the upgrade. If you're a fan of the original, it's probably best to leave it at that and skip this disappointing installment. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/11/25 Full Review Audience Member Could have done without this one. Stick to the first teo Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/12/22 Full Review Audience Member I thought Smokey 3 was a fun, enjoyable film and I thought Jackie Gleason gave a great performance as Buford T Justice, I also thought Junior was at his funniest in this film, Smokey 3 is worth watching if you're a fan of Buford T Justice and Junior, I thought Cledus aka Snowman was annoying as the Bandit and I preferred him as the Snowman, I also thought the Enos's were annoying and they got on my nerves quickly. At least this movie flowed better than Part 2 due to it having more laughs and chases. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Tried to watch .. wow .. is that bad . Watched as a kid too but wasn’t too memorable Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/20/20 Full Review Audience Member I appreciate how game Jerry Reed is and Gleason is still hilarious as ever here, but a lot of the fun is sucked out by not getting Reynolds and Field back. Turning it into a straight up cartoon doesn't help its case either. I wish we could've got the fabled original cut where Smokey IS the Bandit... Something tells me it could've been great...
