tom m Another odd film. It was just okay. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member 3.4 I love these quirky movies Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/19/21 Full Review Audience Member Social Animals. There's not much to say about this movie ... Sunday. Romantic comedy without anything new to contribute. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Not many critic reviews, but I agree with audience average of 5 out of 10. It does try too hard but has familiar faces which do a decent job of playing their parts. A weak script only can take you so far. I wouldn't say it is awful, but wouldn't watch it again. Very relatable at times, especially as a parent (Lice scene). Talks about pubes without getting too carried away (main character is a groin waxer). And doesn't focus on the nudity/sex scenes that unnecessarily slow movies down. Does use a tired cliche of a "Republican" character that finds politics more entertaining than sex. (HA) My liberal friends always seem much more interested in politics than my conservative ones. If you're a fan of any of the main characters, you will probably like it ok. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Actually a really good movie, I recommend seeing this movie, I used Redbox. Heart warming and realistic with good acting by the lead characters. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review troy k Another oddball of a movie, but still worth watching. Nell Minow AWFJ.org While the story lines sometimes slip into the too-obvious or too-easy, the film has tons of verve and charm and terrific performances from an across-the-board outstanding cast... Oct 14, 2022 Full Review Susan Wloszczyna RogerEbert.com The film desperately tries to be wild and out of control, but it ends up as more of a slapdash portrait of cartoony desperation than any sort of realistic depiction of millennial angst when it comes to current-day female lifestyle choices. Rated: 2/4 Jun 1, 2018 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times A limp sex comedy that feels as cinematically played out as the dusty charm of Austin itself. May 31, 2018 Full Review Jennifer Merin AWFJ.org Social Animals, the first feature from writer/director Theresa Bennett, is a neatly conceived and well-realized femme-centric comedy... Oct 14, 2022 Full Review Cate Marquis AWFJ.org Writer/director Theresa Bennett's debut feature film Social Animals is a light, quirky comedy about modern romance, Austin, TX style. Oct 14, 2022 Full Review Betsy Bozdech AWFJ.org Social Animals isn't the first indie comedy to explore the restless ennui of late-twentysomething/early-thirtysomething life, and it likely won't be the last. But it's always refreshing to get a femme-centric take on the subject... Oct 14, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews
