Soft Fruit belongs ... to the divine Ms. Drynan, who plays a dying, unfulfilled, ordinary woman without embellishment or overstatement but with mischievous reserve and surprising sensuality. Go to Full Review

An absolute delight. Heartfelt and surprising from the first minute, no beter film has left Australian shores since Romper Stomper. And yes, I'm including Shine in that. Go to Full Review

12/13/2009 A little too offbeat for my taste, but I still found it to be an enjoyable film with terrific performances. Jeanie Drynan is particularly good. Nicely written. The cast worked well together and really seemed like a family, very well cast. See more 01/20/2008 Fantastic! Honestly didn't know if I would like it, this movie showed a true family dealing with their demons and their mother's illness. Besides being utterly sad at time, it also had me falling off my seat laughing. The characters show you a truly believable family! Great acting on all parts! This is a must-see! See more 05/20/2007 Emotionally charged, this quiet Aussie film is a charm to watch.Four siblings return to the family home to nurse their sick mother, and alliances are reformed and broken in this trying time. Great performance from Jeanie Drynan as the mother, and Russel Dykstra as the ex con. See more 03/23/2007 I originally found this movie on oddfilms.com and when it and I met on late-night cable, we became instant lovers. Soft Fruit is hysterical and bittersweet at the same time. You want to hate the characters and but you love them too much. I can safely say this movie started my love affair with Australian cinema. See more Read all reviews
