dave s Solas, an offering from Spain, is a slow and meditative film about despair, abuse, anger, loneliness, redemption, and, perhaps most importantly, the enduring bond between a mother and daughter. It's not always a pleasure to watch based on the subject matter, but it turns out to be a rewarding experience. When a mother temporarily moves in with her troubled daughter, emotions are laid bare as they come to terms with their shared past and look to salvage a damaged relationship. Despite far too many extreme close-ups, it is a beautifully acted and well-written family drama that will resonate long after it's been viewed, filled with truth and honesty and an overriding sense that any relationship is salvageable if the parties involved are willing to participate in the resolution. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A brilliant Spanish melodrama with top class performances and direction, Solas is far from fun to watch but will take you on a difficult emotional journey you need to experience. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Hermosa! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Frances H A beautiful, touching film about the anger and bitterness that the fear of being alone and loneliness itself can bring to life, and the wonderful peace a mother brings to her daughter by her wonderful love and caring, her integrity, her example and bringing her daughter together with another lonely soul. A film of great human compassion. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/09/13 Full Review Audience Member Great movie, legible to follow great characters, the mother especially and the old man neighbor and his German shepherd dog.Good film scenario of what you would expect of Spanish films. The story was good and a little sad.The acting was wonderful. The bitter daughter threats her mother very indifferent, there is one scene with some disgusting sex scene, but it does makes a point to help understand the daughters attitude towards like.It was s surprise but happy ending very good movie. So for that being said I gave this film a C. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A really good movie that makes you think about your relation with your mother. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
